Shabby chic card class instructions

Congratulations card

  1. Die cut oblong label from cream card. Dry emboss using dots embossing folder.
  2. Roughly ink up lace stamp in pink ink & stamp off onto scrap, then again onto a small piece of cream card. Die cut using small fancy label die.
  3. Stamp distressed label in pink onto cream card. Cut round with scissors.
  4. Stamp “Congratulations” in black ink on cream card. Punch out using Word Window punch.
  5. Punch green patterned paper with Modern Label punch.
  6. Layer up oblong label, scissor cut frame & smaller die cut frame & stick together.
  7. Layer up “Congratulations” and green patterned paper & stick together.
  8. Attach 3 foam pads to back of green patterned paper. Take the twine and loop it round into a small circle, 3 or 4 times. Lay it onto the underside of the green patterned paper, making sure it sticks to the 2 outer foam pads. Add a little wet glue to the top of the foam pads where the twine has covered them. Stick onto layered up labels.
  9. Attach completed embellishment to front of card.

Happy Birthday card

  1. There are 4 strips of cream card – 2 about the same size, one narrow & one wider.
  2. Dry emboss the 2 similar size strips of cream card using the fancy edges embossing folders. Die cut the embossed edges using the scallop edge die. Trim down to about 1.5” deep.
  3. Die cut the edge of the narrower strip with the loop fancy edges die. Cut down to about 1/2” thick.
  4. Stamp the widest strip with the lace stamp in green ink – you can stamp off first if you want to get a more faded image. Cut down to about 3/4” deep.
  5. Layer up from the bottom of the card, starting with one embossed edge, then another about 1/4” higher, then the green stamped strip and finally the looped die cut (hide the plain edge behind the green stamped strip). Stick to the card.
  6. Glue the crochet trim to cover the join between the embossed strip and the green stamped strip, using a very thin layer of wet glue.
  7. Flower - ink up the lace stamp in pink ink. Stamp off if you want to, then roughly stamp a large piece of cream card. Die cut 2 each of the large, medium & small petals from the big flower die, & punch out 2 small flowers using the tiny flower punch. Save the waste, you will need it for the next card.
  8. Place on a foam pad & emboss the petals with an embossing tool or the end of a pen until the petals curl. Layer up & glue together. Place a pearl in the centre.
  9. Die cut a leaf from the flower die, using the book page.
  10. Die cut a small label using the book paper.
  11. Stamp distressed label in pink onto cream card. Roughly cut round it then die cut the centre out with the small label die.
  12. Cut the pink label in half longways & position it behind the book page label, to make a thin pink frame for it. Stick together.
  13. Stamp “Happy Birthday” onto cream card in black ink. Overstamp with a frame in brown ink then punch out with coordinating punch. Try to offset the frame so that the sentiment appers more to the right side of the frame.
  14. Place a stick gem on the right side to look like a fastener. Attach to book page label.
  15. Tie a bow with the twine and glue just below Happy Birthday sentiment.

To assemble:

Stick book page leaves to left of card, then layer over with glitter paper, then large flower – the edge of the flower should reach to about the centre of the card.

Add the Happy Birthday sentiment so that it peeps out from behind the flower.

Leave the inside blank or attach a book page with a label die cut.

Thank you card

  1. Roughly ink up the lave stamp in green ink – you are aiming for a patchy effect so try to leave a few gaps. Stamp off if you want a very faded look & then stamp onto small square of cream card.
  2. Distress the edges of the square card using a distressing tool or scissors. Lightly ink the edges with brown ink & a sponge. Stick to the front of the card.
  3. Ink up the floral circular label in pink ink & stamp on cream card. Line up the edges & punch out with large scallop circle punch. Distress & ink edges as before.
  4. Stick book page circle to kraft card circle. Attach to the scallop circle you just punched out.
  5. Stamp the narrow frame in brown ink twice then punch out with coordinating Modern Label punch.
  6. Layer one over the book page circle and stick.
  7. Cut a small piece of tulle netting & layer it over the frame you just glued down. Glue in the very centre .
  8. Punch out a large butterfly from patterned paper & a smaller one from the waste from the flower on the last card. Layer on top of each other & glue to the netting. Stick 2 pearls to the centre.
  9. Stamp “thank you” onto cream card in black ink & punch out with Word Window punch. Lightly distress the edges & attach to stamped label with 3 foam pads.
  10. Attach ribbon to card – it is sheer & so glue & tape will show through. Only put glue in the centre where it will be hidden by the big scalloped circle, and on the centre back, where you can punch a butterfly to hide it. Experiment with tying a bow before gluing it down, so you know how much to leave on either side (one side will need to be a bit longer than the other, depending on how you tie your bows).
  11. Stick scalloped circle to the centre of the card, so it covers the glued ribbon.
  12. Stick “thank you” sentiment below.
  13. Roughly ink up lace stamp in green, then stamp off twice, then stamp card liner. Attach liner to inside of card.
